Cyber-bullying

Anytime a person discloses another person's personal data (such as real name, phone number, place of work) at website or forum, with the intent to embarrass their victim is Cyber-bullying. When someone takes a victim's identity and uses it with malice, it is cyber-bullying. Posting a person's photo defaming them with captions, drawings, or merging them with insulting images is cyber bullying. Continuously instigating a flaming on a certain individual is cyber-bullying.

Unfortunately, there is no absolute when it comes to cyber-bullying. As the motives all vary, so do the consequences. But for those who are feeling victimized, there are a few precautions that you can take.

And a lack of self esteem on the part of the bully. Most cyber bully's wouldn't dare say anything to the person face to face cause the are wimpy littl butt monkeys

When people get a bit attached to you. I feel that this is a bit worse, though, as its fueled by things such as maniac obsession and ignorant lust. (I think that would be a great band name; Ignorant Lust...) I think these have more potential to get out of hand, as most suicide-things I've heard of online had to do with some sort of emotional relationship gone wrong.

The problem with the web is, we don't really know what people are like. We can think we know them but there are some crazies out there and we think we are talking to a decent human being until they suddenly flip for no reason at all and we can then end up with a cyber stalker.

On the issue of cyber-bullying itself, could not false rumors of bullying also be used as a form of bullying? It's more subtle but has the potential to cause even more discord because of how the information can spread from a more vague source than if someone were simply coming onto your forum and picking on people directly. It has the potential to tamper with your member base, but would that be considered bullying in a general sense?

Both the victim and the accused have stigmas that are hard to overcome. I agree that both are bullying in their own form and can tear down a solid member base and have them split sides
